Neil Diamond live in concert.
Here's Neil performing another one of my favourite songs, "I Am...I Said"
Neil wrote this song way back in 1971, and if you look closely at the lyrics, you'll notice that there's a bit of his life's story in there.
Not many people know that Neil Diamond has won the Grammy award for Best Original Soundtrack for the movie "Jonathan Livingston Seagull", and was later inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, who subsequently honored him with the coveted Sammy Cahn "Lifetime Achievement Award"

"...I've never cared for the sound of being alone."

I Am...I Said
L.A.'s fine, the sun shines most the time...and the feelin' is laid back.

Palm trees grow, and the rents are low, but you know I keep thinkin' about...makin' my way back.

Well, I'm New York City born and raised, but now-a-days I'm lost between two shores.

L.A.'s fine, but it ain't home, New York's home, but it ain't mine no more...

"I Am," I said...to no one there, and no one heard at all, not even the chair.

"I Am," I cried..."I Am." said I...and I am lost, and I can't even say why...leavin' me lonely still.

Did you ever read about a frog who dreamed of bein' a king...and then became one?

Well, except for the names, and a few other changes, when you talk about me, the story's the same one.

But I've got an emptiness deep inside, and I'v tried, but it won't let me go.

And I'm not a man who likes to swear, but I've never cared for the sound of bein' alone.

"I Am," I said..."I Am," I cried...and I am lost, and I can't even say why...leavin' me lonely still.
