U.S.S.Voyager NCC-74656
Federation starship, this Intrepid-class ship, Starfleet registry NCC-74656, is commanded by Captain Kathryn Janeway. Voyager has a gross mass of 700,000 metric tons, 15 decks, and a crew compliment of 141. This ship has a sustainable cruising velocity of warp 9.975, and features improved computer systems in which some traditional optical processors were replaced with bio-neural circuitry, and is also equipped with conventional isolinear optical circuits. The Intrepid-class Voyager, is the only Federation starship with the capability of landing on the surface of a Class-M planet, then returning to space.

Lost in the Delta Quadrant
In 2371, Voyager was violently propelled into the Delta Quadrant by a powerful displacement wave generated by the Caretaker. Stranded some 70,000 light-years from home, Captain Janeway invited the crew of a similarly stranded Maquis vessel to join Voyager's crew, and asked Maquis officer Chakotay to serve as her second-in-command. In late 2371, Voyager had a crew of 152. A minimun of 100 people was normally required to operate the vessel successfully.

Voyager and the Borg
Voyager traveled through Borg space in late 2373 and early 2374. Passage through this hostile region was possible because of a risky truce negotiated by Captain Janeway in which the Borg agreed not to assimilate Voyager in exchange for assistance in defending against an invasion by the extradimensional life-form known as Species 8472. Borg drones, temporarily aboard Voyager as part of the exchange agreement, installed a significant amount of Borg technology into the vessel's systems, some of which was deemed useful and permitted to remain, even after the conclusion of the operation.
